Bismillah hir Rahman nir Raheem!

Before We Start!

My name is Kadijah Kastriba, and I converted to Islam the day before Ramadan in the Hijri 1425, Alhumdilillah! It was a confusing and exciting time because the Deen was so new to me! I have made it my goal every Ramadan since to be just a bit more organized so that I can take advantage of this great month. Ramadan is the time of year where I take stock of my relationship with Allah, Subhana-hu wa-Ta’ala, and I decide what new goals and habits I want to add to my Ibadah. Now, I am going to share my passion of getting prepared with all of you, Insha Allah.

Over the years, I am passionate about self-development and have taken several classes in leadership, organization, and communication. I hold two associates degrees and am currently working on my bachelors in Economics and Organizational Communication at Penn State. I have also started taking my Islamic Studies quite seriously and became a Student of Knowledge with AlMaghrib Institute. This workshop is a project I have created under their guidance, and I look forward to sharing it with you.

Even when the Day of Judgement is about to happen, and there is a little sprout (seedling) in your hand, you should continue to plant it.

BUKHARI AND AHMAD

Getting Ready for the Workshop

I do ask that you please have some supplies with you when you start the workshop. These are tools that will help you along the way.

  1. A Notebook for taking notes and making to do lists
  2. A Journal that you will continue to use during the month of Ramadan (This is different from your notebook)
  3. A Planner – one that will give you joy to use. Tip: Do not buy the most expensive one! If this is your first time using a planner, less it more!
  4. Your favorite writing tools. Tip: I suggest different colored pens.
  5. Suggested: A printer to printout worksheets.

I have List on Amazon with some of my favorites. Please take a few minutes to look at the tools needed.

Disclosure: I have decided to join Amazons Affiliate program to help offset some of my operating costs. Any purchases you make using the Amazon links will result in a small commission for me with no cost to you.

Media and Articles

Please watch the following videos. This is a playlist that was released about a year ago from Yaqeen Institute by Dr. Tesneem Alkiek. There are 16 videos, all shorter than 5 minutes, that will really get you in the mindset, insha Allah.

Halaqah Week 1 – Introduction

As with any new undertaking, a proper introduction of what the intentions and goals of the Halaqah should be introduced.

For this Halaqah, it is suggested that each week contain the following elements

  • The beginning of each Halaqah will review a Dhikr from Fortress of The Muslim
  • A few notes on the basics of Islam should be presented as reminders
  • The class discussion/activity of the week
  • A game/Kahoot on material covered to encourage active participation and learning.

Marhaba

A general introduction of yourself and each lady. How you would like to proceed with each Halaqah, and what the general expectations should take place. Also, this is a great time to figure out how it is best to keep in contact with each Lady and if the group will have outings, or just meet at as specific time.

If there is time, start discussion from The Ideal Muslimah.

The Believing Woman is Alert

The first paragraph of chapter 1 of the book says:

One of the most prominent distinguishing features of the Muslim woman is her deep faith in Allah, Subhana wa Ta’ala (the Exalted), and her sincere conviction that whatever happens in this universe, and whatever fate befalls human beings, only happens through the will and decree of Allah; whatever befalls a person could not have been avoided, and whatever does not happen to a person could not have been made to happen. A person has no choice in this life but to strive towards the right path and to do good deeds – acts of worship and other acts – by whatever means one can, putting all her trust in Allah, Subhana wa Ta’ala, submitting to His will, and believing the she is always in need of Allah’s help and support.

The Need for Ilm

I received this email from International Open University. Subhanallah, I wish I had kept the date, but I wish to share the contents:

Assalamu alaykum warahmutallahi wabarakatuh.

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

Believe it or not but most underrated aspect of Islam is Aqeedah and the Muslims are careless about learning and spreading it!

If you don’t agree with the above statement, then why do you think that even bringing the topic of correct Aqeedah up for a discussion is considered a taboo by the majority of us Muslims today?

Dear Brothers and Sisters, know that correct Aqueedah based on the Qur’an and Sunnah is the first and foremost condition for the victory in the Hereafter!

One might be able to manage to enter Jennah despite having countless sins if their Aqeedah is correct, but nobody is going to enter Jennah without the correct Aqeedah, no matter how pious they were and how many good deeds they did. Period. It is that simple.

Dear Brothers and Sisters, therefore, learning the correct Aqeedah is extremely important and spreading it is better than possessing abundance of wealth. The Prophet, sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam, said, ‘by Allah, Subhana-hu wa-Ta’ala,, if Allah, Subhana-hu wa-Ta’ala, gives guidance to somebody through you, it is better for you than possessing red camels.’ (Sahih al-Bukhari &Sahih Muslim).

While this email was used as a fundraising email, the words used were so powerful that I printed it out and have kept it.
